Program Note:
Alphabet is an aleatoric piece for any combination of instruments which translates text into harmony. Each letter of the English alphabet is assigned a group of pitches. The performers will choose a text, assign a portion of it to each player, then for each letter in their text they will freely choose one pitch from the group corresponding to that letter. Punctuation and spaces may or may not be observed. The group is free to explore different rhythms and embellishments that they may find appropriate to the resulting music.
