Program Note:
This piece is written to be danced to, embodying joy, celebration, and expression. Its structure allows both musician and dancers freedom to improvise and express themselves while the tune carries them away. The title, which translates to “the tomato is unleashed” also embodies this expression of joy; it is taken from Pablo Neruda’s Oda al Tomate, a poem celebrating the fresh delights of Argentinian summer via a visceral depiction of tomatoes.
